Every Family sim in Sim State has a dream family home in their mind. White picket fences, friendly neighbours, a huge lawn for the kids to play on with the dog, and it simply has to be in Downtown’s ‘nicest’ suburb - Pleasantview. With it’s own local school that also serves Bluewater Village, a large enough local government to justify a small city hall and an even smaller police station in the civil district, a shopping strip that makes for a good day out, all the ‘unsightly’ trailer trash, junk, and illicit activities pushed out to a single road, the honor of being home to the Goth family, and many affordable new condos built with real Not Too Rubber Looking palm trees, this town on the river bank has gathered quite the good reputation. Downtown and Belladonna Cove are even beginning to petition higher authority because both want to claim it as their suburb.

But reputation exerts pressure, and a little town is such a small, vulnerable container for that pressure. Sooner or later an explosion is inevitable. Family sims across Sim State would be horrified if they knew the true extent of Middle Class Scandal that is spreading rapidly across Pleasantview. Or maybe, if they thought for five minutes about a home other than their dream one, they’d notice the simultaneous existence of a trailer park and the Goth Mansion in such a small town. Maybe they’d feel an ounce of remorse for adding to the demand driving up land value in Pleasantview, and quietly move their dream home daydreams to Desiderata Valley.

Pleasant Family Bios

The Pleasants are the poster family for Pleasantview’s reputation of modern suburban bliss… and it’s hidden scandals. More than anyone else they’re crumbling beneath the pressure of expectations - if not from their neighbours then from Mary-Sue’s political career, or Daniels superstar sports career, or each other. The Pleasants are a parade of drama, which is very entertaining if you don’t happen to be a Pleasant. However, Daniel's latest dalliance with the maid and the subsequent fallout may prove to be their last straw.

 

Mary-Sue Pleasant

Mary-Sue is a practical, goal-oriented Sim. Her hair was getting in her way while she filed, she cut it short and tied it up. Politicians have happy families, she married Daniel and had children. Daniel cheated, she divorced him, kicked him out, and kept his name to save herself having to reprint her campaign posters. Now all she has to do is pull the shreds of her family back together and save her career from the fallout of the scandal rocking Pleasantview…. Ugh. She’s going to need more hair ties

Angela Pleasant

Kind and friendly to anyone who isn’t Lilith, Angela wants to travel and start her own newspaper about animal welfare and the environment. She doesn’t care about money or class like her parents and is a little disgusted by their obsession with it, but keeps her opinions to herself because she often feels like the stability of her family depends on her being a perfect daughter, her straight As are the only things that seem to make her parents smile. She doesn’t hate Lilith really, but she naively assumes her parents must have had true love to get married, so what caused the tension? The only explanation she can think of is how mad they always are at Lilith. Maybe when she matures a little she’ll stop blaming her sister and herself for their parents’ failed marriage.

Everybody in the Pleasant household takes their drama out on Lilith, it’s not her fault her parents had a sham of a marriage and Angela’s perfect little princess routine wasn’t enough to keep them together. People often asks her why she wears her hair so similar to Angela’s if she hates being her sister so much. Psh. It’s not looking different to Angela that matters, it’s showing that she’s doing something different to how Angela does it. She’d like to move to the more exciting city when she’s older and explore the witchy rumours she’s heard about that place, maybe even open her own restaurant? It’s important to her to have dreams away from this hellhole house.
