The Goths are the only celebrities in Pleasantview, unless you count the time Mary-Sue’s family appeared in her tv ad campaign. Mortimer Goth is known throughout Sim Nation for his work on the elixir of life, and the mystery of Bella Goth’s dissapearance gripped the nation to the point that ten False Bella Sightings were once reported in a single day. (Unfortunately those ten all originated from Strangetown, and everybody knows nobody in that town is in their right mind.) They have a long history, and a lot of secrets in said history. Sim Station Broadcasting once likened the family to a cult, and between the supernatural coincidences that surround them and their strange taste in decor and fashion, it’s not hard to see why. But is this view founded on prejudice and misunderstanding, rather than facts?

 

Mortimer Goth

Personality: Cancer, 4/6/4/7/4, Nature Hobby

Aspiration/Secondary: Knowledge/Family

LTW: Max Out Seven Skills

Degree: Biology.

“That poor old Mortimer Goth” Sims shake their heads “Being taken advantage of like that by a gold-digger after losing Bella. She ought to be ashamed of herself!” as if an old man couldn’t possibly have his own motives. Dina Caliente marries Michael Bachelor and he dies, Dina Caliente moves into town and Bella disappears from the house just next door to theirs. Coincidence? Mortimer is a MAD scientist not a senile scientist, and if letting Dina think she’s the one leading this relationship gets him answers then that’s exactly what he’ll let her believe. Knowledge sims never give up looking for answers, and family sims never give up on family. But maybe Mortimer is so convinced by his own public image, that he's searching for answers in everyone but the one person he should be asking: himself.

 

Don Goth (Lothario for a day)

Personality: Leo, 1/7/8/5/4, Fitness

Aspiration: Romance

LTW: Woohoo With 20 Different Sims

Degree: Biology

Now this… this is the life. A mansion, an inheritance big enough to build another mansion on top of it, and Cassandra. Cassandra who… honestly deserves better than him and he knows it. He’s pretty sure she knows it too, but maybe it’s best not to ask why she’s with him and assume it was his good looks that won her over. Asking questions is against the Goth Rules. (There’s a lot of them, and it’s very hard to get used to being on this side of that black fence.) Mortimer probably keeps giving him weird looks because he still thinks Don knows something about Bella’s disappearance, which he doesn’t. For once in his life, Don Lothario (Goth, it’s Goth now Don) is innocent. One moment she was there, the next he was being woken up by a police officer and she was gone.

 

Cassandra Goth

Personality: Virgo, 7/2/5/7/4, Tinkering Hobby

Aspiration/Secondary: Family/Knowledge

LTW: Become Chief Of Staff

Degree: Psychology

Cassandra is the quiet type, nobody ever knows quite what she’s thinking… not even her own father. He has no idea that she’s doing her own investigation into her mother’s disappearance. The saying goes keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and Cassandra wants the last person to see her mother alive as close as she can possibly get him. Sure she shouldn’t use a marriage as a tactic, but nobody except Mary-Sue and Darren has ever paid her more attention than weird looks so she’s not exactly expecting to need to save the ‘honor’ of her hand. Furthermore, it’s not like he’s telling her the truth about all the women he’s woohooing with. She DOES know about that thank you very much and it’s going to come in handy if she ever needs to get him out of her life. It’s not that she doesn’t have self-confidence, it’s that she doesn’t have great expectations from her own romantic life. It's expendable, easy to weaponize.

Alexander Goth

Personality: Cancer, 4/6/4/7/4, Nature Hobby

Alexander is the only person in this house not obsessed with finding Bella Goth, but he might just be the only person who can fill in the gaps in the story. His father and sister are missing out on so much of their lives obsessing over Bella, and Alexander’s childhood is just one of those things they’re missing. Maybe if Mortimer had time for him he’d realise how much they have in common. Alexander has had to grow up quickly, and has turned to positive affirmation for intelligence to fill the gap where his family have failed to pay him attention. Like most Goths he focuses his research in one specific area, butterflies.
